Veneers That Require
No-Prep & Lumineers

Technology continues to introduce new wrinkles into so many different industries today. Whether it be energy, travel, our diet or how we live there are improvements made almost daily. Dentistry continues to change and improve as well. For years the only folks that could afford dental veneers were celebrities chasing the perfect smile. Now technology has made not only veneers affordable to the masses but now the next phase, the no prep veneer from Lumineer. Let’s first understand what a veneer is and how they work.

What are Veneers?

Over the years you have enjoyed drinking coffee or red wine. Maybe even a cigarette or two. The enamel on your teeth has become stained over time turning into an unattractive yellow or brown color. You try whitening but since the enamel becomes thinner the results you are hoping for are just not possible. Which take us to the possibility of veneers. Dental veneers are thin pieces of tooth-colored porcelain or a composite like material that are cemented to your teeth. They are permanent due to the preparation involved.

The Standard Veneer Process

Dr. Ritter and Ramsey will walk you through the process. A dental impression is first made of your teeth that you are considering covering. Then that impression is sent to a professional lab to create the veneers. Then in the dental office they will begin to prep the teeth. The teeth will be made slightly smaller to accommodate the veneer. Your enamel will be removed from your teeth to accomplish this. By doing this it makes the veneer a permanent solution. Some liberties can be taken also at this time to correct your smile or bite pattern. Not extensive improvements that would involve orthodontics or braces but still cosmetic changes like minor gaps, crooked teeth or of course chipped and cracked teeth. Once the new veneers have been completed in the lab they are simply cemented on to your permanent teeth. The porcelain veneers are largely stain resistant so your discoloration problem has been addressed. Those small imperfections have disappeared and you are left with a nice, white smile. Now, let’s introduce technology and the next possibility, that of Lumineers.

What Is A No Prep Lumineer?

The biggest difference now with the new Lumineer veneer is the lack of preparation. After the impression is made in the offices of Ritter and Ramsey the lab now makes a veneer that is thinner and will meet all the stringent expectations of the cosmetic and restorative dentistry industry. Your natural teeth do not need to be made smaller to accept the veneers. You will not lose your natural enamel on your teeth. Something that can never be replaced once removed. In some cases the Lumineers will be thin layers that will be attached to just the front surfaces of your teeth versus functioning like a crown and covering the entire tooth.

Candidates For No Prep Veneers

The consultation and the selection process now by Drs. Ritter and Ramsey becomes extremely important in the process. Lumineers won’t work for just everyone. Here are some examples of situations in which they are a good solution. If you have smaller teeth due to genetics or something called acid erosion. You have been a grinder and have damaged your teeth. Orthodontics has removed some of your excess teeth. A visual consultation simply says that your teeth are too small for the size of your lips so your smile is not proportional. If your teeth are tapered and somewhat hidden when you smile or if the teeth next to your front teeth are genetically misshaped and are somewhat peg shaped. A consultation will bring any of these possibilities to light and be fodder for a discussion on an appropriate solution. Some issues that no prep Lumineers cannot fix are severed crooked teeth in which braces are the correct solution. If your teeth are already oversized such that even a slight increase in size would take proportions in the wrong direction. If you have a poorly aligned bite or have a disproportionate facial profile in which structural corrections need to come first.

What To Expect From Lumineers

The new Lumineers are one of the most time efficient and versatile solutions in cosmetic or restorative dentistry available today. With the no prep advantage you can transform your appearance and smile in only a few quick visits. Without the removal of your enamel your teeth may not have the sensitivity issues that occur once in a while with conventional veneers. The comfort factor has delivered very nice results. A porcelain veneer is about as thick as a credit card, or around one millimeter. Lumineers, thanks to the advancements in technology, the materials used, and techniques are now much thinner than that but yet can deliver 20 years of wear with proper oral hygiene on your behalf. The process, since again the original teeth are not ground down, is completely pain-free. Unlike conventional veneers, if for any reason you wish to have the Lumineers removed the process is very easy to reverse. Your natural teeth are still intact and strong.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY DENTISTRY SINCE 1994

Traditionally, hours of hand labor in a dental laboratory are invested in these precise products. With the adoption of more technology into dentistry, digital imaging continues to grow in importance. Most restorations begin with a mold of your mouth that involves messy impression materials. With the Itero Digital Scanner, you can say goodbye to the mess. Itero eliminates this step, replacing it with simple digital images captured with a handheld wand. The images quickly appear on a computer monitor as 3-D models of your teeth.

Expert Tooth Restoration Using Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns are used to restore dental implants, to secure dental bridges, restore and help repair broken or damaged teeth. Dental crowns can be performed in one visit. The goal with dental crowns is to create a natural looking smile. These types of crowns can add the strength and durability to any tooth with any needed repair. Aesthetically, dental crowns are used to cover a discolored tooth and even narrow the gaps between largely separated teeth.

The Finest Porcelain Veneers for a New Smile

At Ritter & Ramsey, watching patients discover a brilliant new smile is the highlight of our days. Porcelain veneers can transform a smile dramatically. A beautiful new set of porcelain veneers can correct chips, stains, and even deeply discolored teeth. But they can also alter the length and size of teeth, or help teeth that seem rotated appear straight. While it sounds dramatic, only the stunning visual outcome is surprising. Porcelain veneers provide a highly conservative approach to aesthetic smile makeovers.
