History

Schall Circle, Florida is a small community located just to the west of West Palm Beach in Palm Beach County. The history of the community is much more recent than the history of the surrounding region. For centuries local indigenous tribes thrived off of the abundance of southeastern Florida. The proximity to the coast and perfect climate provided ample food and comfort. The lives of these locals were forever altered in 1513 when Juan Ponce de Leon landed on the Florida coast with his band of conquistadors. Searching for gold, the Spanish raided the coastal regions and eventually laid claim to the land. It didn’t take long for all of the native tribes to be either displaced or killed by disease or warfare.

Florida remained under Spanish control for a long time. Eventually the territory was acquired by the United States and it achieved statehood in 1845. Following this, the region of West Palm Beach functioned as primarily an agricultural center. The Great Depression stunted the growth of the region as economic hardship gripped the nation and the state of Florida. The outbreak of World War II proved to be a godsend for Southeastern Florida. The United States government began pumping money into the region to ensure coastal defenses. This increase of spending got the area of Schall Circle out of the depression and began an upward trend of population and economic success. Over the next several years the area would become known as a tourist and golfing destination in the country.

Today

The population of Schall Circle is less than 1000 people. The community has remained small over the years despite the growth of the surrounding area. Residents benefit from the tourism economy and their proximity to West Palm Beach.

Things to do

Southeastern Florida and West Palm Beach are known for two things primarily, beaches and golfing. The beaches in West Palm Beach are some of the most pristine in the entire country. People travel from all over to visit. Visitors to the beaches enjoy all of the major beach activities such as: sunbathing, beach sports, boating, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, parasailing, jet skiing, and drift diving. Drift diving is a local pastime that is made possible because of the proximity of the Gulf Stream to the coast of Palm Beach County. Drift divers go out onto the current and float watching all of the wildlife the ocean has to offer pass by.

The other major attraction of Palm Beach County is golfing. Over the years, the region has become one of the country’s most premier golf destinations. There are over 100 courses within the vicinity of Schall Circle. These courses range in price and challenge level. Golfers of all skills and budgets will find a course or two that suits them.

The community is also within a short distance of West Palm Beach. Here you will find numerous restaurants, shopping opportunities, entertainment, and nightlife. The rise in tourism has fueled a rise in the culinary experiences and retail spaces in the community. No matter what you are looking for you are sure to find it.
