More information about North Palm Beach, FL

North Palm Beach sits directly between West Palm Beach and Jupiter. It is about seven to eight miles to either city. The population today is over 12,000 residents.

The History of the Village

In 1954 John D. MacArthur bought 2,600 acres from a Harry Seymour Kelsey. He immediately began developing what has become North Palm Beach today. The town was incorporated in 1956. Full scale development continued with extensive dredging to create waterfront cul-de-sacs for housing. New roads were built including a new east-west artery called Lighthouse Drive. In 1959 the community elected its first mayor. Walter E. Thomas Jr. was at the time the 55th family to move into the village. The village was home to the second enclosed mall built in Palm Beach County. The Twin City Mall opened in 1970 and made it 25 years before being demolished and replaced in the mid-1990s. The village is quite proud of the Country Club and golf course built then on the village island. This same course was closed in 2006, redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2006, and reopened. In 1989 a State Park was opened on Singer Island next to North Palm Beach. Named after MacArthur it covers 348 acres on land and underwater. The 1. 6 mile long beach is widely known as a nesting ground for rare sea turtles. It also has an Estuary, where the river meets the sea, crossed by a 1,600 boardwalk. This is also the only state park in Palm Beach County.

North Palm Beach Today

With quantifiable assets such as warm weather, an overabundance of good golf, ocean and fresh water fishing, boating, both big and small, miles of sandy beaches and ocean breezes, the village is excited in what it has to offer visitors and tourists. It has become a great place to either raise a family or retire. Other than the state park already mentioned there are several more beautiful parks with playgrounds, boat docks, tennis courts, volleyball courts and dog parks for our four legged friends.
