More About Indiantown

Indiantown is located in Martin County, Florida. Its history began as a trading post created by the Seminole Indians. The tribes that settled there were fleeing the US
army following the First Seminole War. It remained a Seminole trading post until the 1890’s when white settlers began moving in. Residents of Indiantown benefited
from a road that connected the town to Jupiter, Florida. This connection allowed the town to benefit from the resources of the coast and larger cities growing there.
Trading with the natives continued to be a major part of the town’s economy. The area was transformed into citrus groves and was used to trade with the Seminoles
in the area. Throughout the 1900’s the community was heavily impacted by transportation developments in the area. This included the completion of a state
highway and the Seaboard Airline Railway.

Today

Indiantown’s population is around 7,000 people today. The local economy relies heavily on agriculture and the community’s placement between several major roads
and transportation networks. The town has recently been putting a concerted effort into revitalizing the once famous Circle T Rodeo in order to bring some of Palm
Beach County’s famous tourism to the town.

Things to do

One of Indiantown’s most well known spots is Payson Park. This is one of the most well known horse racing facilities for thoroughbreds in the country. Over the years
several famous trainers and horses have taken part of events at the facility. This region of Florida is known for two things above all others: beaches and golf
courses. Although Indiantown is a little ways from the coast, the beaches of Palm Beach County are all an easy trip away. It takes no time to get to Jupiter and West
Palm Beach. Once there you will find many beaches that vary from busy to quiet. The Gulf Stream passes right by and warms the water year round. Beachgoers can
take in the Florida sunshine, boat, Jet Ski, parasail, snorkel, or drift dive in the Gulf Stream. In addition the beaches, the golf is a phenomenal element of South Florida
life. There are hundreds of golf courses in the area. They range from easy to hard, from private to public. Golfers of all skills and social classes can find a course that
suits them here.

There are several nature areas in the region as well. They vary from wildlife sanctuaries to plant reserves. One of the most famous places in the region is the Lion
Country Safari. This drive through safari gives families the opportunity to interact in a personal way with safari animals. Kids love feeding the giraffes and having the
animals roam around the vehicles as they pass through. In addition to Lion Country Safari, the region is home to the DuPuis Reserve, Kai Kai Farm, Barley Barber
Swamp, Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Area, Halpatiokee Regional Park, Tropical Ranch Botanical Gardens, and Lake Okeechobee. No matter what kind of
nature you are looking for you will find within driving distance of Indiatown.
